Objective To observe the influence of pacing mode and left atrial caliber to the morbidity of atrial fibrillation (Af) in patients after long-term cardiac pacing. To offer the clinical experience and reference. Methods Among the patients with pacemaker treatment in the Second Hospital Affihated to Harbin Medical University from 1984 to 2003 years,85 cases of them was followed up with an average of 3.29±2.89 years, with 33 of them in VVI aroup,16 in AAI group and 36 in DDD group. We collect every patient's sex, age, sort of original arrhythmia, the caliber of his(or her) left atrial before the operation and the type of pacemaker they have implanted. Each of them with ECG check at the time after implantation, a week later and one month later, part of them with ECG survey to clarity whether there was persistent atrial fibrllation. We analyze the affect of multiple infactors to the occurrence of M through statistic ways. Results Af occurred in 10 out of 85 patients, with 8 in VVI group (24.24%), 1 in AAI group (6.25%) and/in DDD group (2.78 % ). Most of the cases with Af had a large left atrial in original. Conclusion The morbidity of Af is influenced by several risk factors, among them, the main are pacing mod and left atrial caliber before implantation.
