    • 摘要: Objective:This study aimed to assess smartphone dependency and its impact on academics among medical and nursing students.Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out on Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)and Bachelor of Science in Nursing(BScN)students in a medical teaching institute.The Smartphone Dependency Scale and self-structured questionnaire on impact of smartphone on academics were used to assess smartphone dependency and its impact on academics.A total of 436 students were selected using the total enumerative sampling technique.Data were analyzed using the descriptive(frequency,percentage,mean,and standard deviation)and inferential(t-test,Chi-square test)statistics.Results:The mean age of students was 20.6±1.29 years,81%were females,and the mean body mass index score was 21.59±3.41 kg/m2.The mean impact on academics and smartphone dependency scores was 19.92±7.01 and 48.58±11.46,respectively.The impact on academics had a significant association with student category(P<0.001)and gender(P<0.001).A significant association was found between the impact on academics(P=0.003)and smartphone dependency(P=0.05)with studying class.Conclusion:The use of smartphones is more among medical students.Students studying in the first and second years are found to be more dependent on smartphone,which caused a serious impact on their academics.Smart appliances have become mandatory in this era of technology,and it is not possible to stop its usage but negative impact of smartphones on students’academic performance needs to be addressed.Therefore,it is mandatory to organize educational seminars and workshops to promote the appropriate use of smartphones.

    • 摘要: Brain tumors are considered as most fatal cancers.To reduce the risk of death,early identification of the disease is required.One of the best available methods to evaluate brain tumors is Magnetic resonance Images(MRI).Brain tumor detection and segmentation are tough as brain tumors may vary in size,shape,and location.That makes manual detection of brain tumors by exploring MRI a tedious job for radiologists and doctors’.So an automated brain tumor detection and segmentation is required.This work suggests a Region-based Convolution Neural Network(RCNN)approach for automated brain tumor identification and segmentation using MR images,which helps solve the difficulties of brain tumor identification efficiently and accurately.Our methodology is based on the accurate and efficient selection of tumorous areas.That reduces computational complexity and time.We have validated the designed experimental setup on a standard dataset,BraTS 2020.We used binary evaluation matrices based on Dice Similarity Coefficient(DSC)and Mean Average Precision(mAP).The segmentation results are compared with state-of-the-art methodologies to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.The suggested approach attained an averageDSC of 0.92 andmAP 0.92 for 10 patients,while on the whole dataset,the scores are DSC 0.89 and mAP 0.90.The following results clearly show the performance efficiency of the proposed methodology.

    • 摘要: Medical humidifier is one of the vital instruments for a respiratory patient in hospital,which is used to humidify the required oxygen for respiratory patients.The conventional type of humidifier,bubble humidifier,has some technical problems,including the need to drain condensed water and a lack of accurate control of air or oxygen required by the patient.In contrast,Membrane humidifier has exciting advantages,including the simplicity of the system,the absence of moving parts,very low noise,and the ability to control temperature and humidity.In this study,three configurations,including parallel,cross,and serpentine of a single module of a membrane humidifier according to the person's weight and breathing rate(the range of 10–28 SLPM)are numerically investigated.For validation of numerical models,a membrane humidifier experimental setup test is used.The obtained results indicated that the crossflow configuration for membrane humidifier has a minimum Dew Point Approach Temperature(DPAT)(2

    • 摘要: This research intends to unveil the presence of radioisotopes in the soil of some mining sites in Nasarawa of Nasarawa state using thermos-scientific interceptor(IdentiFINDER).The work aimed at detecting the presence,types and trust level of radioisotopes.The result showed that,103Pd and 125I were found in 57%of the total points and the percentage abundance of the detector reached 50-65%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely found in the area,109Cd was found in 15%of the total areas.The percentage abundance of the detector for 109Cd shows 50%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely to be found in the area,241Am was found in 7%of the total areas.The percentage abundance of the detector for 241Am shows 81%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely found in the area,235U was found in 7%of the total points.The percentage abundance of the detector for 235U reaches 57%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely found in the area,75Se was found in 7%of the total points.The percentage abundance of the detector for 75Se was in abundance up to 57%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely gotten in the area and 57Co was gotten in 7%of the total areas.The percentage abundance of the detector for 57Co was 54%indicating that,those radioisotopes are likely to be gotten in the area.Based on this high percentage abundance of the detector for these radioisotopes,they can be harnessed and applied appropriately in medicine and industry.
