英语习语的转喻和翻译方法

摘要

Idiom is a language phenomenon which has a wide application. Usually,it is difficult for people to deduce the se-mantic meaning of an idiom,thus a good command of the whole idiom is necessary. Idiom is based on human cognitive concep-tual structure,and metonymy,as a conceptual structure,also serves as a cognitive basis of English idiom;the semantic mean-ings of many idioms can be analyzed from the perspective of metonymy. The understanding of metonymic motivation is helpful for the good command of idioms. This thesis analyzes idioms in metonymic view,and attempts to explore the translation meth-ods of English idioms in order that translators could have something to refer to.%英语习语是一种有着广泛运用的语言现象。习语的语义往往不能从其组成成分意思的组合得出，需整体把握意思才可。习语是基于人类认知的概念结构的，其中转喻作为一个认知的概念结构也是习语的认知基础；很多习语的意思都可以从转喻的视角分析得出。了解习语的转喻理据便于深刻掌握习语。本文从转喻角度理解习语现象，并且试着探索英语习语汉译的方法，以期对译者在翻译中有所借鉴。
