Robert Morrison’s English translation of Peking Gazette is a typical case of the early protestant missionaries’ translating Chinese information into the West .Motivated not only by offering the political new s of China but also by eliminating British East India Company ’s misunderstanding of him ,Morrison’s translation is a powerful response to the company ’s dismissing him as a translator .Employing the strategy of selective translation and adding a number of commentary paratexts ,he provided an important channel for foreigners to understand China’s social and governmental situations at that time .%马礼逊英译《京报》是早期来华新教传教士向西方译介中国情报的典型个案。其动因不仅是为了提供中国时政消息，更是借此消除英国东印度公司对自己的误解，作为对公司解聘其译员职务的有力回应。马礼逊采用摘译策略译报，并添加了大量评论性副文本，为外国人认识中国社会状况和了解政府动态提供了重要渠道。
