    • 摘要: In the process of translation, the translator is subject to the differences of language and culture, which often leads to the loss of poetic image, and affects the accurate interpretation of the original work.Based on the interpretation of the original poetry image, this paper divides the loss of poetry translation image into three categories:loss of cultural image, loss of concrete image, and loss of abstract image. This paper analyzes the loss of these three types of poetry image respectively,it is expected to contribute to the correct dissemination and acceptance of poetry in western countries.

    • 摘要: The study of respiratory plasticity in animal models spans decades. At the bench, researchers use an array of techniques aimed at harnessing the power of plasticity within the central nervous system to restore respiration following spinal cord injury. This field of research is highly clinically relevant.People living with cervical spinal cord injury at or above the level of the phrenic motoneuron pool at spinal levels C3-C5 typically have significant impairments in breathing which may require assisted ventilation. Those who are ventilator dependent are at an increased risk of ventilator-associated co-morbidities and have a drastically reduced life expectancy.Pre-clinical research examining respiratory plasticity in animal models has laid the groundwork for clinical trials.Despite how widely researched this injury is in animal models, relatively few treatments have broken through the preclinical barrier. The three goals of this present review are to define plasticity as it pertains to respiratory function post-spinal cord injury, discuss plasticity models of spinal cord injury used in research, and explore the shift from preclinical to clinical research.By investigating current targets of respiratory plasticity research,we hope to illuminate preclinical work that can influence future clinical investigations and the advancement of treatments for spinal cord injury.

    • 摘要: Culture-loaded words refer to words with specific cultural connotations that can express an abstract or a specific concept, which may be related to religious beliefs or social customs, but do not exist in other languages and cultures.Therefore,culture-loaded words bring some difficulties to translation work.Huang Di Nei Jing(《黄帝内经》Huangdi’s Internal Classic)is the foundation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory, and is listed as the first of the four classics of TCM.It contains a large number of cultureloaded words, which embody the ancient Chinese traditional culture. The translation of culture-loaded words is a difficult but crucial point in the translation of Huangdi’s Internal Classic and directly relates to the quality of the translation of Huangdi’s Internal Classic as a whole.Taking the two English versions of Maoshing Ni and Li Zhaoguo as examples, this work identifies the culture-loaded words appearing in the chapter“Yin Yang Ying Xiang Da Lun”(阴阳应象大论Comprehensive Discourse on Phenomena Corresponding to the Yin and Yang). This work studies the strategies and translation process of culture-loaded words in Huangdi’s Internal Classic, with a view to contribute to the English translation of TCM classics.

    • 摘要: With the coming of all kinds of information, the world is becoming one indivisible planet.People not only pay attention to major events in their own countries, but also gradually pay attention to international news and learn about the world situation. As one of the world’s common languages,English news accounts for a large proportion of the news market.Usually when people choose to read current events, they will look at the headlines first, and then at the content of the article. Therefore, whether the translated news headlines can accurately convey information and catch readers’attention in a short time plays a very important role in the dissemination of news.Based on the context theory, this paper studies and analyzes the translation of some news headlines, expecting to provide some suggestions for news translation.

    • 摘要: Chinese forensic medicine has a long and brilliant history, and the forensic knowledge in ancient China represents the world’s highest medicolegal level at the time.Among all extant essays and works on China’s early medical jurisprudence,Xiyuan Jilu(Records for Vindication)written by Song Ci in 1247 CE,during the Southern Song dynasty,is the oldest text on legal medicine in the world.Subsequently, this work went through successive editions and expansions. The book was not simply a manual providing instruction on conducting inquests;it also established standards for all judicial practices in ancient China. From the beginning of the 18th century, the earliest existing Yuan edition and subsequent editions of this book were translated. They contributed to the broad dissemination of ancient Chinese forensic culture in the West.By discussing the diffusion of Xiyuan Jilu and its corresponding studies in the Western world, this paper intends to expound on the cultural transmission of early Chinese forensic medicine, and reveal its values and impacts on the history and development of legal medicine worldwide to provide an illustrative example of Sino-Western medical and cultural exchange.

    • 摘要: A fad for female heroism emerged in the late Qing China as women were urgently mobilized to undertake the mission of‘strengthening the nation and preserving the race.’However, women reaching the modern standards of heroines were almost absent in China.Western heroines were then introduced into China as exemplars for Chinese women to emulate. The story of Madame Roland, the most prestigious Western heroine at that time, was appropriated to the political ends. The male-coded virtues of her were highlighted in conformity to the standards of heroines in late Qing China:hero-worship,patriotism,political maternity and beauty. An ideal heroine was thus created through translation. As a prototype of heroine, she inspired a flood of localized Chinese heroines.
