The methods adopted in the Chinese translation of brand names include literal translaG tion,free translation,both literal and free transliteration,and the abbreviation.Phonetic characG teristics include the number of syllables,tonal collocation,and the mouth opening level.Through the analysis of the 105 brands of General Motors,Volkswagen and toyota,we find that the three big auto groups are more inclined to transliteration,two syllables,oblique tones and rhymes with mouth opened.%汽车品牌名称的汉译方法包括直译法、意译法、音译意译法、音译法和缩写法五大类;语音特色包括音节数量、声调搭配、开口度三方面。通过对通用、大众和丰田共105个品牌的定量分析,发现三大汽车集团品牌名称都比较倾向于选择采用音译法、二音节、平仄相间和开口呼。
