It reported a study on cultivating EFL learners′ability to think in English , and analyzed the effects of thinking in English on students′English proficiency by means of the test and the questionnaire . Results showed that the relevant strategies adopted by the experimenter for cultivating the ability to think in English ,such as eliminating "mental translation",culture education ,reading by sense group ,situational teaching ,are effective in improving students′overall English level .The strategies have significant effect on the enhancement of students′proficiency in listening ,writing,translation and reading;however,they have no obvious effect on students′ability in grammar and vocabulary .Finally , a questionnaire revealed that students take positive attitude toward these strategies ,indicating that such strategies can be safely and ef-fectively used in Chinese EFL college classroom .%结合对EFL学习者进行英语思维能力培养的实验研究,以测试、问卷为工具,采用定量研究方法,分析了英语思维对学习者英语能力的影响。结果显示:实验者所采纳的相关英语思维培养策略,如消除“心译”、文化教学、意群朗读、情景教学等有效地提高了学生的整体英语水平,极大地增强了学生的听力、写作、翻译和阅读能力,而语法与词汇水平没有受到实验的直接影响。此外,问卷调查显示,学生对培养策略普遍持认同态度,说明此类策略可安全、有效地应用于大学英语课堂教学。
