摘要

The goal of this Practice Guide is to formulate specific and coherent evidence-based recommendations for use by educators addressing a multifaceted challenge that lacks developed or evaluated packaged approaches. The challenge is effective literacy instruction for English learners in the elementary grades. In this English Learner Practice Guide we use effect sizes for describing the magnitude of impact of a program or practice reported in a study. This metric is increasingly used in social science research to provide a gauge of the magnitude of the improvement in performance reported in a research study.
