This study examines the pedagogical benefits of and issues arising from the use of a synchronous conferencing tool (ie. Wimba Classroom?) in the hybrid delivery (ie. students attending either face-to-face or remotely) of a postgraduate degree programme in advanced clinical paediatrics. Specifically, we examine why students choose to participate virtually and the impact of the virtual classroom on learning and communication. Data was gathered from the students using an online survey, supported by regular discussions, observations and email exchanges.
