The method presented in the paper consists of a sequence of identical solution steps, each of which increases by one the order of accuracy of the density expansion of the effective conductivity. The method is based on a proposal by G.K. Batchelor to circumvent divergent integrals in the random sedimentation problem and is, as such, an alternative for the virial expansion method of Felderhof, Ford and Cohen. Both methods yield the same two-particle approximation. To higher orders the precise relationship between the two methods has not been established so far.
