试论汉语歇后语的翻译

摘要

歇后语有极深的民族文化底蕴，表达力很强，雅俗共赏，深受海内外华人的青睐，构成了中华民族文化语言中不可或缺的一枚瑰宝。卡特福德的不可译性理论在翻译歇后语中显得特别明显。针对不可译性，为了实现语言交际和文化沟通，人们必须在句法学、语义学、语用学、民俗学和翻译学等多方面的结合点上，探索英译歇后语的操控原则和方法。%Chinese Xiehouyu ( post-pause enigmatic similes ) is rich in national , cultural and artistic peculiarity , combining subtle expressiveness , refined and popular tastes .With its profound appeal to mainland and overseas Chinese , it constitutes an indispensible part in Chinese language and culture .British scholar J.C.Catford’s untranslatability theory displays a remarkable value in tackling Xiehouyu translation .To cope with untranslatability , and to materialize linguistic communication and cultural gap-bridging, it is vitally important to search for basic principles and operational methods to handle English translation of Xie -houyu, combining subjects such as syntax , semantics, pragmatics, folklore, translatology and many others .
