基于语料库的刘宇昆与葛浩文译者风格比较研究

摘要

采用语料库研究方法，借鉴Baker单语类比研究模式，从语言层面对刘宇昆和葛浩文的翻译风格进行比较分析发现，在词汇层面，二者在词汇多样性方面极其相似，但前者偏好长难词汇，书面语体特征明显；在句子层面，二者叙述结构相似，但相比葛浩文，刘宇昆少用复合结构，句长较短，表达趋向于简洁化。另外， STTR在英语翻译文本中存在一定的共性特征，不足以明显区分不同译者风格。研究为今后的译者风格探究和中国文学作品“走出去”战略提供借鉴。%The paper conducts a comparative study of Ken Liu’s and Howard Goldblatt’s translation style manifested in their Chinese fiction translations in the light of Mona Baker’s Monolingual Comparable Research Mode from the perspective of linguistics. It has been shown that, in terms of lexical features, the two literary translators share the similar lexical variety, but Ken Liu prefers long and complex words with a distinct feature of written language. In regard to the syntactic features, they share the similar use of reporting structure, but Ken Liu has a tendency for concise expressions with fewer compound sentences and shorter average sentence length. Besides, it is also shown that STTR alone can hardly be used to distinguish translators’ styles. This research provides guidance for the later corpus-based studies of translator’s style and the“going-out” project of Chinese literature and culture.
