从顺应论视角看沙博理英译《林海雪原》

摘要

本文以维索尔伦的顺应理论为理论框架，拟通过四个方面，即“语境顺应”、“结构客体顺应”、“动态顺应”、“顺应过程的意识程度”对沙博理英译本Tracks in the Snowy Forest进行分析，旨在探讨沙博理如何在译本中顺应原文内容和译文读者阅读习惯，以求既传播中华文化，又满足译文读者阅读期待。 顺应论认为使用语言是一个有意识地或无意识地不断选择语言的过程。语言能够让其使用者从可供选择的项目中作灵活的变通，从而满足交际的需要。顺应论为翻译研究提供了全新的视角:同一切言语交际活动一样，翻译的过程也是一个连续选择的过程。换句话说，从所译文本的取材到目的语句式、词汇的运用，翻译过程中的每一个阶段都涉及选择和顺应。 该研究的原作为曲波所著《林海雪原》（第一版出版于1957年），是一部描写东北民主联军战士们执行剿匪任务的小说。五年后，这部著作的英文版Tracks in the Snowy Forest问世，译者为沙博理。沙博理拥有双重文化身份，深谙中西两种文化，这使Tracks in the Snowy Forest不仅顺应了原文的内容，更是照顾了目的语读者的阅读感受。沙博理为《林海雪原》向西方的传播做出了决定性的贡献。 该论文共分六章。文章开篇介绍研究背景、研究意义、研究问题以及论文结构。第二章对顺应论的翻译研究、所采用译本Tracks in the Snowy Forest、沙博理及其作品等相关研究进行回顾。第三章介绍了理论框架顺应论及相关的重要概念。论文的第四章介绍了原作《林海雪原》及其英译本Tracks in the Snowy Forest。第五章在理论框架支撑下，主要运用定性分析的方法，从“语境顺应”、“结构客体顺应”、“动态顺应”、“顺应过程的意识程度”四个方面对Tracks in the Snowy Forest进行详尽的分析。最后一章给出了该研究的结论、创新点、不足之处和建议。研究结论强调两个方面成果:第一，译者在文本翻译过程中运用不同的翻译策略，从各个方面顺应原文内容和译文读者阅读习惯，既传播了中华文化，又满足了译文读者阅读期待;第二，本论文首次运用顺应论来分析Tracks in the Snowy Forest，是对翻译研究的一种新探索。另外，期待未来相关研究能通过数据进行分析论证，使研究更具有论证说服力。
