中国民俗风情翻译中的冗余不可避免——基于中国外宣网站相关译文的个案分析

摘要

在经济全球化高速发展的今天，各国之间的文化交流也日益密切。近年来，中国也在致力于对外宣传本国的优秀传统文化。中国民俗风情，作为中国传统文化的典型代表，为这个有着深厚文化底蕴的东方文明古国披上了华丽的衣裳。然而，中国民俗风情的对外译介远远落后其自身的发展，究其原因，主要有:大量文化负载词的存在增添了翻译工作的难度;继而使译文不可避免地产生不少冗余现象，使其接受度成为翻译中一个不小的问题;处于西方文化体系边缘的中国传统文化，难以进入世界主流文化体系等等。
　　即便如此，中国的翻译工作者们仍然在自己的工作领域坚持不懈，为使中国的民俗风情走向世界而殚精竭虑。近来年，为搭建中国与世界沟通的桥梁，推广中国民俗风情，相关的专题介绍、展会、外宣刊物等如雨后春笋般涌现，令人颇感欣慰。
　　纵观中国民俗风情翻译资料，我们不难发现译文存在大量冗余现象。译文中的冗余信息主要源于对中国文化内涵的阐释，虽然有利于译文读者理解和接受中国文化，但这样的译文无法激起读者的阅读兴趣。因此，本文旨在探索这类翻译素材中冗余现象的不可避免性以及有效的处理手段。
　　鉴于这类翻译素材的特殊性，本文将冗余定义成为补足缺省的文化信息而造成的语言赘述。众所周知，当交际双方享有同一文化背景时，作者可以将其省略以获取语用和美学价值，文化缺省由此应运而生。然而，它给来自不同文化背景的人造成严重的理解障碍。因此，译者必须在翻译过程中进行必要的文化补偿。由于中国民俗风情资料中存在大量文化负载词，因此文化补偿势在必行，而这恰恰是冗余的主要来源。
　　在理论与实践相结合的基础上，本论文立足中国民俗风情翻译中的冗余现象，首先分析了中国民俗风情资料的文本功能、翻译策略、异化导致冗余的类型、冗余的表现及其正、负效应，继而从文化补偿的角度指出冗余的不可避免性。在此基础上，围绕中国民俗风情翻译，本文分析了冗余的根源及其积极效应，进一步指出冗余在中国民俗风情翻译中的不可避免性，最后提出广泛应用于中国民俗风情翻译的具体方法。
