目的论视角下动画影片的字幕翻译研究——以《怪兽大学》为例

摘要

随着世界经济一体化和全球电影产业的蓬勃发展，电影作为最受大众欢迎的传播形式之一在不同国家的跨文化交流中起到了举足轻重的作用。因此，电影字幕的翻译也越来越受到译者及观众的重视。因为电影字幕的翻译不但发挥着一部外国电影在不同国家之间进行文化传播的桥梁作用，甚至对一部外国电影的票房和口碑都会产生非常直接的影响。因此，一部电影字幕翻译的质量和如何成就好的字幕翻译就成为了一个十分值得探讨的问题。然而，在当下我国的字幕翻译研究则相对滞后，对电影字幕翻译的研究远不及对文学翻译研究的深入，并尚有许多问题有待探讨。电影字幕翻译的指导理论还不够完善，很多电影字幕翻译的翻译质量也待于更一步的改进。
　　德国功能主义“目的论”作为对传统翻译理论的一个重大突破，为电影字幕的翻译研究开辟了一个全新的视角。在目的论中，翻译被认为是一种由其特定的翻译目的所决定的行为，目的论摒弃了传统翻译理论中的忠实和对等的原则，把翻译研究从语言学的范畴拓展到更广泛的跨文化交际的领域，因而极大地拓展了翻译理论研究的视野。作者认为，在时间和空间的制约下，电影字幕翻译应以最大化地吸引观众兴趣，传达影片故事情节进展，和引发观众共鸣为特定的目的，从而让特定文化背景中的观众更好地理解其观看的电影故事情节。由于一部电影的字幕翻译是一个受到多方面因素影响的动态和综合的过程，一个好的译者在进行电影字幕翻译时，应充分考虑影响这部电影翻译的各种目的，选择最为适合的翻译策略和技巧，为充分实现电影预期的翻译目的而服务。
　　本文作者以皮克斯动画影片《怪兽大学》的中文字幕翻译作为研究对象，采用德国功能主义翻译理论派的目的论作为理论框架，结合动画电影本身的特点，从目的论的角度分析研究动画电影字幕翻译的目的、翻译原则及翻译策略。
　　本研究发现，用目的论来指导字幕翻译可以给予译者更大的灵活性。动画电影字幕翻译目的是要实现制片人的商业意图、字幕翻译的交际目的及观众的期待。鉴于动画片自身的特点，动画影片字幕翻译应遵循简洁、连贯、忠实、流行性原则。《怪兽大学》作为一部喜剧的动画电影，创作人员用了大量幽默的桥段和通俗易懂的语言。为了让中国观众能够最大化地欣赏到源语言本土化后的魅力，在翻译的过程中应使用灵活的翻译策略，包括改写、增译、意译、使用四字成语典故、使用网络语言直译和意译等翻译策略以达到字幕翻译的目的。
　　作者希望通过该研究，能够提高翻译界对电影字幕翻译研究的关注度，充分发挥电影字幕翻译领域在促进中西方文化交流中的作用。
