LC/MS/MS is both a sensitive and selective technique for the analysis of imidazolinone herbicides with instrumental detection limits ranging from 16 - 24pg (on-column) with a method detection limit ranging from 9.4 - 19.7ng/L(250ml sample). Imazamethebenz-methyl hydrolyzes rapidly (5hrs under alkaline pH) to the freeacid. Measurement of the free acid should be included in the analytical protocol in order to monitor the fate and transport of imazamethabenz-methyl. Leaching iseviden to fimida zolinone herbicides under irrigation. Mass balances tocalculate total leaching verses amount applied are required to quantify leaching properties.
