A study was conducted to track the flavour changes of a medium and a standard strength lager over the shelf life period. Concurrently, a limited study was also conducted to determine the impact of any changes on consumer liking. When assessed by an expert panel some flavours of both beers were found to have changed. These differences were not always reflected in the degree of consumer liking. No difference was found by the consumers between beers stored at ambient and cold. These results have implications for the determination of stated shelf life and conditions of storage and distribution for these products.
