A Knowledge-Based Approach for Chinese - English Translations

摘要

In this paper, we argue that being able to provide a high quality translation for highly isolating languages such as Chinese requires working within the framework of a knowledge-based approach. More specifically, we discuss here the acquisition of a semantic lexicon for Chinese and its use in the task of word sense disambiguation.
