Grates; air, supplying for combustion.-In a stove or furnace having a grate formed of two inclined end pieces g, h connected by an horizontal shaking-portion m, prongs n are provided for clearing ashes from the spaces in the rear grate. The shaking-grate slides on bearers e, which also carry the supports f, k for the end grates. The products of combustion pass out from the fuel chamber through openings t in an overhanging portion of the rear wall s, into a chamber u to which air is supplied from the ash-pit to complete the combustion. Air is delivered above the fuel on the grate through a flue w behind the chamber u.
