Applications of all steel sandwich panels with corrugated cores as a longitudinal211u001ebulkhead and as a deck of a cruising ship are studied in the paper. The panels 211u001eare produced by laser welding. Computer code developed to conduct spectral 211u001efatigue analysis for the ship girder is used to evaluate the fatigue life for the 211u001estudied panels. The S-N curves needed in the analysis are obtained by fatigue 211u001etesting of the most critical joints developed for the studied sandwich panels. 211u001eTwo panels are manufactured for the strength testing of longitudinal bulkhead 211u001epanels enabling in testing of a total of 6 test pieces cut from these panels. The 211u001etest series to study the fatigue characteristics of longitudinal joints on deck 211u001epanels include in total 18 tests. The results of the strength tests are used to 211u001eestimate the fatigue life of these panels when applied to a cruising ship built 211u001ein the 80's. The fatigue analysis summarized in this paper indicate that the 211u001epanels can, at present, be used as longitudinal bulkheads on a cruising ship. 211u001eFurther development is, however, needed before these panels can be applied e.g. 211u001eon the upper deck panels of a cruising ship.
