Prior Living Arrangements and Nursing Home Resident Admission ADL211 Characteristics: A Study of Two States

Objectives: To examine the relationship of prior living arrangements and average211u001eactivities of daily living (ADL) function upon nursing home admission across two 211u001estates. Methods: 1993 and 1994 Minimum Data Set Plus records on 4,837 Medicaid-211u001ereimbursed nursing home residents aged 65+ from two states were used. Medicaid 211u001ereimbursed residents were chosen since Medicaid reimbursement policies differ at 211u001ethe state level, and such differences might affect admission characteristics 211u001eacross states. Ordinary least squares models were used to examine the correlates 211u001eof the number of ADL limitations (range 0-7) upon nursing home admission.
