The report is one of a series of statistical reports on the institutional population of the United States. The reports present findings from a number of institutional population surveys which are part of the National Health Survey. Data in the report are based on information collected in a nationwide sample survey of nursing and personal care homes. The survey was conducted during May-June 1964. Data are presented on marital status, living arrangements before admission, and frequency of visitors of residents.
