Compendium of U.S. Science and Technology Activities in Developing Countries

The Compendium provides baseline information on the emphasis and extent of federally supported science and technology (S&T) in developing countries. The introduction briefly describes each agency and its purpose in supporting S&T in developing countries, explains the purpose of the Compendium, and discusses the limits in using and interpreting the data. The body of the Compendium consists of three chapters, examining support for science and technology by agency, by area of science, and by country. Key words are listed alphabetically and cross referenced with corresponding activities. The reader can determine the type and extent of support for S&T activities by each agency, in all sectors in any country. Data are presented in graphs, charts, and tables, with a short explanatory text for each chapter. In addition, a listing of all projects, with titles, starting and completion dates, and funding levels, is included in an annex.
