Exxon Mobil said Monday that it has secured a rig for the development of the Kipper gas project in Australia's Bass Strait. The Ocean Patriot semisubmersible rig, operated by Diamond Offshore, has been engaged to drill the Kipper subsea wells, said Exxon, project operator with 32.5%. Australia's BHP Billiton has another 32.5%, while compatriot Santos has 35%.
