Iron oxide (Fe_2O_3), and especially hematite, is well known in photoelectrochemicalapplications such as water splitting and photocatalysis, and canalso be used in solar energy conversion. Here, properties of iron oxidenanoparticles are investigated. The differences in the crystallization andrefractive index of Fe_2O_3 nanoparticles, created under varied temperatures,are confirmed and analyzed in this paper. In addition, various nano- tomicroscale patterns of Fe_2O_3 nanoparticles enhance their features. UVimprint lithography, one of the simplest lithography procedures, is used tofabricate various iron oxide structures such as nanoholes, pillars, lines,microcones, and moth-eyes on flexible or planar substrates. The opticalproperties of Fe_2O_3 patterns as fabricated are measured, and futureapplications are discussed.
