A Fast Navigation Method for Service Robots in the Family Environment

In order to realize the fast navigation in family environment, a robot tracking navigation scheme is proposed basing on the ceiling projectors. The architecture of the system is put forward and the key problems of the scheme are discussed as follows. Firstly, light spot is segmented by the lookup table based on Cb and Cr color information, and the location of the robot is achieved from the StarGazer. Secondly, according to the location of the light spot in the field view of the camera and the location information, the robot is well controlled in different regions. Thirdly, the coordination of the robot and the ceiling projector is discussed. Lastly, the experimental results show that the discussed scheme can efficiently realize the fast navigation of the robot in the family environment.
