When united airlines an-nounced late last month it would likely post losses in the last two quarters of the year—its first losses in 25 quarters—blame was set squarely on the shoulders of the company's 10,500 pilots. Their unofficial boycott of overtime this summer led to an estimated 10,000 flight cancela-tions, sent customers to other airlines and helped drive UAL stock down from $79 in January to $48 near the end of August.
