Background. Allium species extracts includingAllium cepa L. contain sulfur compounds, known fortheir antiplatelet, antimicrobial, antineoplasic activities.Methodology. Antibacterial activity of a formulation basedonA. cepaextracts - liquid and lyophilized samples, has beendemonstrated using two classes of bacteria: Gram-positive(Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichiacoli) and three methods: discs soaked with liquid extract, thewells method in the culture medium, flled with the liquidextract and lyophilized formulation extracts transformedby the incorporation of ultrapure water. The second partof this study includes identifcation of thiosulfnatescompounds from the studied samples by high performaceliquid chromatography - mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS).Results. The most important inhibition and the highestantibacterialefciencywere observed against Gram-positivebacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. The HPLC-MS
