Informationliteracyisacriticalcomponentofa21stcenturyeducation.Teachereducatorsareconfrontedwithteachingaboutinformationliteracyontwolevels:Notonlydopre-serviceteachersneedtobecomeproficientinILskillsfortheirownsuccess,theyalsoneedtolearnhowtoteachtheirfuturestudentstobecomeinformationliterate(Branch,2003;Carr,1998;Hinchcliffe,2003).Inanefforttodeterminetheextenttowhichteachereducationprogramsincorporateinformationliteracyinstruction,researchersatalargeMidwesternuniversityconductedasurveyofteachereducationfacultyinselectedstates.Thesurveysoughttogatherdatarelatedtofacultyknowledge,inclusion,andassessmentofinformationliteracyinteachereducationprograms,andthedegreetowhichtherewascollaborationbetweenlibrariansandfacultyintheteachingofinformationliteracyskills.
