«论语»中重复的衔接功能和翻译

摘要

重复是古汉语语篇中常见的一种语言现象，表现形式多样化，在语篇构建中发挥着各种句内衔接和跨句衔接功能。在汉译英过程中，译者需要从语篇的层面充分地了解两种语言在重复衔接上的异同，从而寻求合理贴切地转换。文章运用系统功能语言学的衔接理论，通过实例对比分析«论语»原文中的重复现象和理雅各译本的处理，总结理译本的重复翻译策略。%Repetition,as a common linguistic phenomenon in ancient Chinese classics,has diversified patterns of manifestation and gives play to the functions of intra-sentence cohesion and trans-sentence cohesion in discourse construction.In the translation from Chinese to English,the translator needs to fully understand the differences and similarities in repetition between the two languages from the perspective of discourse and make proper transference in the course of translation.Based on the cohesion theory of system-functional linguistics,this paper compares the repetition phenomenon between The Analects of Confucious and Legge’s translated version,and then sums up Legge’s translating strategies for repetition.
