英汉饮食习语的文化差异及其翻译策略

             

摘要

中、英两国地理环境、发展历史存在巨大差异,导致了汉语、英语的习语存在许多根本性不同,特别是在一些以饮食为主题的习语方面,差别尤为明显。在具体的翻译工作中,译者应当充分认识到这种差异形成的原因和背景,并根据具体情况选取不同翻译手段对习语进行翻译,从而实现习语翻译的准确、美观。通过研究餐饮相关的英汉习语翻译,也可以进一步深化了解英汉翻译过程中文化差异,促进中英文化的交流融合。%It is well know that there are tremendous differences between Chinese and English upon the cultural background. Thus, those differences influence on the idioms in two countries obviously and profoundly, especially on the food idioms. During the process of translation, the translators should be fully aware of the reasons and background information which caused those differences. Moreover, they should adopt appropriate translation strategies to translate the idioms according to the specific circumstances for achieving the purpose of translating the accuracy and complete equivalency idioms. The cultural differences between Chinese and English will be further deeply understood by analyzing the two countries’ food idioms in order to promote East-West cultural exchanges and integration.
