西方视野下的现代中国形象认知与传播--论史景迁的现代中国研究

摘要

American sinologist Jonathan Spence's study on modern China presents his analysis and judgment of the entangled rela-tionship between“China” and“modern”.As Jonathan Spence defines “modern” as a concept requiring many essential quali-ties, China is excluded from modern nations due to the lack of those qualities.Meanwhile, Jonathan Spencer's modern China re-search, which constantly builds and introduces the image of modern China to the West, wins him more audience and higher rec-ognition than other sinologists.This paper aims to explore the relationship between knowledge production and mass ideology, as well as reflections on national image exportation.%美国历史学家史景迁（ Jonathan D．Spence）的现代中国研究聚焦于中国向现代转化这一复杂艰难的历史过程，他以一种匮乏叙事逻辑将中国排除在“现代”范畴之外，并且将中国的历史与现状不断作类比联系，意在呈现中国历史的重复性节奏。这一做法与史景迁去历史化的“现代”概念界定息息相关。同时，由于史景迁的现代中国研究较一般学者有更广泛的受众群体，具备较高的大众认知与接受度，他所建构的现代中国形象也因此具有不可忽视的文化传播影响力。考察史氏现代中国研究在学界与非学术受众中的接受将我们推向了知识话语生产与大众意识形态间复杂关系的思考深处。
