文化预设在字幕翻译中的幽默效果迁移——以《老友记》为个案研究

摘要

《老友记》是一部美国情景喜剧，剧中对话蕴涵着一种独特的“美式”幽默，该剧在中国也受到很多人的喜爱，因此剧中的字幕翻译也得到人们的参与和关注。虽然字幕翻译近年来逐渐受到学者和译者的关注，他们从具体方面提出了该翻译类型的特点和翻译方法，但很少有人针对情景喜剧中幽默对白中大量的文化元素从整体上提出一个指导性的翻译策略。
　　 《老友记》中大量的幽默文本带有浓厚的文化色彩。作者认为，幽默很多程度上是通过语言实现的，而语言又是文化不可分割的一部分，翻译可以看成是不同文化间的交流，因此，如何在翻译中传达原文的文化内涵并实现其幽默效果就显得格外重要了。本论文旨在从文化预设的角度对情景喜剧字幕翻译中文化内涵的幽默效果传递作一次实际操作的尝试:对美国著名情景喜剧《老友记》中的文化预设进行了分类；并对从语用学角度对现有流行的翻译版本做出了详细的分析；最后在语用等效翻译理论的指导下，就如何对其中的文化预设产生的幽默效果进行迁移做了试探性的研究。
　　 文化预设，简单地说是指由一定民族或社会文化决定的“社会共识”或“群体意识”，即思维定型和行为模式，是一种特定群体社会经验的整合。不同文化背景的译者在翻译时，会不自觉地以各自的社会意识或群体意识解释或理解不同文化中的同一文化现象，因此要使翻译成功，就要求译者熟悉这两种语言的使用特征和社会文化规范，这样才能正确理解原文的信息，并在符合译文读者的文化与认知期待的条《下，把原文作者意欲传达给读者的信息正确地通过译作传达出来。然而翻译过程中无可避免地要考虑到文化语境差异导致的翻译障碍，针对此类问题，译者应当以语用等效为原则，以传达语用意义为目的，以作者的意图和译文读者的对其文化预设的认知程度为出发点。语用翻译原则以译文读者，语用意义和言外行为为中心，能为我们提供指导性原则和建议，以确保交际的顺利进行以及翻译的成功。
