译者行为批评视域下的“深度翻译”译者身份和角色研究——以严复《天演论》为个案

摘要

“深度翻译”是阿皮亚(K.Appiah)在“深度描写”概念的基础上创造的翻译术语，意指通过注释、说明或创造性改写等方法达到重新构建译语文本的目的。深度翻译现象是客观存在的，在我国清末民初的翻译历史上也不例外。
　　清末民初是中国历史上的一个特殊时期，也是翻译活动空前繁荣的一个时期。在这个时期内涌现了一大批翻译家，诞生了大量对后世具有深远影响的译作。而在这些译作当中，“深度翻译”现象比较突出。严复的《天演论》是这类现象的典型代表，值得深入研究。本文将以“深度翻译”作为研究的主线，以严复及其作品《天演论》为研究的个案，从译者行为批评视域切入，从翻译内部和翻译外部两个层次，界定深度翻译的译者身份和角色，以期对译者行为和译文质量的评价实现尽可能的全面和客观。
　　本文回顾了“深度翻译”现象、译者身份和译者角色的国内外相关研究以及本文的理论框架——译者行为批评，重新审视了严复的《天演论》及其“深度翻译”现象，对具体的“深度翻译”译者的身份和角色进行了界定和评价，确定译者在“翻译内”所具有的语言人（译者）身份和译者角色、在“翻译外”所具有的社会人（半译者）身份，以及读者、作者和学者等角色的事实。
　　本文尝试从译者行为批评视域的角度，分析《天演论》中“深度翻译”译者的译者身份和角色，辨析了译文执行者的译者在兼顾“作者/原文”和“读者/社会”之间时的身份和角色特征。严复的“深度翻译”是其务实社会行为的一种表现，也是他从语言人角色到社会人角色过渡的象征。
