The method involves semiautomatically collecting individual shapes of HEp-2 cell sections as objects in the form of representations in images. Abstract shape models in different abstraction levels are automatically obtained from the individual shapes. Two case-studies are compared with one another through a displacement and scale graduation of each case-study. The models are medians in the form of individual groups of HEp-2 cells. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a computer program product having codes to perform a method for acquiring shapes from images with representations of HEp-2 cell sections in the form of objects and for learning abstract shape models from representations of HEp-2 cell sections (B) a display storage medium cooperates with a programmable computer system to perform a method of for acquiring shapes from images with representations of HEp-2 cell sections in the form of objects and for learning abstract shape models from representations of HEp-2 cell sections.
