This study shows that: a) the results obtained with CCMT for process control systems can be sensitive to the order the stochastic failures and control laws are considered as well as how the cell-to-cell transition probabilities are approximated, and, b) the continuous time CCMT can be an effective approach to reduce the computational penalty associated with the need to verify the results through experimentation with the order and approximation schems. The computational performance of the continuous time CCMT can be further improved by using more efficient integration schemes for stiff differential equations.
