Ash-guards; fenders.-A tile kerb or ash-guard is constructed with an upper grooved metal top plate connected to the cement or tiles by projections screwed or keyed into the tile and cement by undercuts or grooves. Fig. 1 shows the top plate D with extensions A attached to the cement by rivets, and with studs K having nuts engaging in recesses in the tiles. In Fig. 2, the top plate is shown with perforated, rods or plates C embedded in the cement. A " dome " or foot-plate F is secured into the cement at the base.
