Ornamenting.-Relates to the inventions described in Specifications 26,528/08, and 22,810/10, and 23,537/11, [both in Class 126, Stoves &c.], and consists in using in the manufacture of tile kerbs, hearths, asbguards, &c. described therein a known cement consisting of sodium silicate with asbestos or zinc oxide or both. Alternatively with or in addition to the asbestos or zinc oxide, other materials such as sand, powdered glass, flint, or china clay may be used. Suitable proportions are parts of sodium silicate to 1 part of powdered asbestos or zinc oxide. The cement may be made to set by heating to 200-300‹ F. The Provisional Specification also describes the addition of calcium chloride to the mixture and the application of the cement in fixing tiles for any purpose to metal, wood, slate, asbestos, or other plates, for example for making in addition to the articles described above, panels for grates and stoves, grate interiors, wall panels, table tops, and furniture backs.
