The gripper jaws (1, 2) of a parallel movable gripper system are actuated by a linear drive means (7) via rotatably mounted angle levers (8). The connections between the angle lever (8) and the gripper jaw on the one hand and a connecting rod (11) of the linear drive means on the other hand are made by coupling members (19 and 21 respectively), each of which are connected to the said elements by swivel joints (14, 16 and 17, 18 respectively).
