The air-cooled vehicle alternator has a stator between front and rear supports (13) incorporating the mountings for the rotor shafts, with a pair of ventilation fans at either end of the rotor. A baffle plate (30) is screwed to the rear support (13) facing the fan blades, each supports (13) incorporating a number of air inlets and peripheral air exit openings, for air-cooling of the rotor during operation of the alternator. The baffle plate (30) has hollow sections for locating the head (52a) of the fixing screws (52), so that the end face of the screw head lies flush with the surface of the baffle plate (30).
