The method involves activating transient rules (1, 2, 3) for passing progressively a hybrid drive train of a vehicle to an operating mode e.g. electric operating mode, to another operating mode e.g. hybrid operating mode. A power evolution is determined by a monotonic cartography based on travel percentage of an accelerator pedal in an electric mode. The operating mode is maintained for driving percentage of the accelerator pedal.
