The method involves providing request for switching with gear ratio between first gear and third gear. The torque command is reduced to specific value. The clutch arranged on input shaft of gear box (16) is opened in order to decouple gearbox from combustion engine (14). The torque control mode of engine is transferred into speed control mode to rotate the engine by movement of vehicle (10) and gear ratio of gear. The clutch is closed in order to couple gearbox and engine. The speed control mode of engine is transferred into torque control mode.
