The simulation model for a Brushless D.C. Motor and the associatedcommutation power conditioner transistor model are presented. The necessaryconditions for maximum power output while operating at steady-state speed andsinusoidally distributed air-gap flux are developed.Comparisons of simulated model with the measured performance of a typicalmotor are done both on time response waveforms and on average performancecharacteristics. These preliminary results indicate good agreement. Plansfor model improvement and testing of a motor-driven positioning device formodel evaluation are outlined.
