Transaction Based Design of Computer Mediated Communication Systems. ImplementingHabermas' Theory of Communicative Action

摘要

The authors find several theory driven directions for the design of computermediated communication systems (CMCS). In the paper, Habermas' theory of communicative action is examined and, in conjunction with Dietz' transaction paradigm, forms the basis for the transaction process model. This model describes the communication alternatives in a business transaction. The model forms the starting point for the design of a CMCS. A functional specification of a CMCS based on the transaction process model is given and general design requirements for CMCS are deduced.
