Solvent Evaporation from Washing Pools in a Paint Factory

Stationary evaporation from channel bottom level as well as the effect of thelength-height ratio L/h variation on evaporation in rectangular dust was simulated on a laboratory scale using m-xylene as evaporating liquid. A comparison of this experiment to a solvent evaporation from pools in a paint factory washing room is presented. The industrial work place studied was a washing room where different objects, mostly pipes, tubes and filters, were washed with organic solvents. The solvent studied was m-xylene, and it was used to remove dried alkyd paint. Occupational hygienic measurements in the washing room were carried out and the functioning of the ventilation system was measured in terms of air flow velocities and temperatures.
