This implementational manual is intended for local governments who want to make211u001eimprovements to existing conditions that affect bicycling. Thirteen of the most 211u001etypical situations or factors that impact bicycle use are considered. For each 211u001esituation or factor the manual provides (as appropriate) a problem overview, a 211u001esolution overview, implementation strategies, resource requirements, subtasks, a 211u001eschedule, specifications, and references. The intent is to make it relatively 211u001eeasy and straightforward for a local public works or transportation department to 211u001eidentify specific problems and deal with them, generally as part of the agency's 211u001eroutine functions. The information provided is based on the approaches and 211u001etechniques developed over the past two decades by some of the most bicycle-211u001efriendly communities and leading practitioners.
