A vacuum system has been fabricated, which, after outgassing, is capable of producing pressures in the order of 0.1 micron (approx. 325,000 feet) in approximately 5 minutes. A pressure of 2000 microns, (approx. 138,000 feet) can be produced in approximately 30 seconds.nA minimum sparking potential of approximately 300 volts has been observed at a pressure of approximately 2000 ailerons (See Table I);above and below this pressure the sparking potential was observed to increase.nAt pressures leas than approximately 2000 microns, the glow phenomenon was observed and it was noted that sparking potential values could cot be duplicated exactly, but were fairly consistent.
