摘要

The theorem developed by Drucker, Prager and Greenberg determines upper bounds for the limit load of a supported rigid-plastic body subjected to external loads. By applying this limit load theorem to certain metal-working problems the pressure required for such operations may be obtained, and these pressures may be exceeded by a narrow margin. Examples of such solutions are given. Calculations of the upper bounds based on admissible velocity fields are presented in examples of indentation and compression of circular and rectangular discs. The solutions presented give an insight into the mechanics of certain metal-working operations. (Author)
