摘要

A statewide survey was taken to determine: (1) The nature and level of discipline problems in Utah schools; (2) The perception of various social groups on the nature of school discipline; and (3) Solution strategies for improving school discipline. The report is divided into five major sections. The first section contains a brief review of the current theoretical and research literature related to student discipline and also lists those issues and questions deemed most critical by the Executive Committee on Discipline. The second section summarizes the method and procedures used in the study: sampling, survey instrument construction, and data collection. The third section describes the results of the study. The fourth section addresses the major conclusions and recommendations of the study. The final section contains the Appendices of the report which includes copies of the survey instruments and raw data.
