Report of Northeast Regional Workshop on Ocean Pollution Monitoring Held at Stony Brook, New York on September 10-12, 1980

The primary purpose of this report is to summarize the findings of the US NOAA/US EPA Northeast Regional Ocean Pollution Monitoring Workshop convened in Stony Brook, NY, September 10-12, 1980. It was found that existing inventories of Northeast regional marine pollution monitoring programs were incomplete and that further investigation was needed to determine the significance of these omissions and to meet the overall objectives of the workshop. Present ocean monitoring programs include NOAA's pilot Northeast Monitoring Program (NEMP), Region 2 EPA's New York Bight Monitoring program and Region 3 EPA's ocean dumping monitoring program, Federal Drug Administration/State shellfish sanitation programs, and a number of municipal and industrial compliance monitoring programs.
